Public Health England recently published an article calling on parents to cut sugary drinks from children’s diet. A shocking 20% of children in the UK are now obese and the heavy consumption of sugary drinks is a factor in this problem. As a country the UK is consuming far too much sugar. This is leading to major health consequences such as tooth decay in children and diabetes in adults. Our sugar intake should only be 5% of our calorie intake. Currently we tend to consume more than double this amount.
